Cooperation and bilateral issues
China supported projects including parliament, the national library and archive, a convention centre and an industrial park. Technical cooperation includes horticulture, biogas and mushroom cultivation technology. The economic commission was created in June 2018 and the strategic partnership announced in September 2024. The first Chinese medical team arrived in April 1997. An agricultural Confucius Institute opened at the National University of Lesotho in April 2025. Visits in 2026 accompany these programmes and the 2019 Belt and Road framework. [1]

In 2025, merchandise trade between the two countries (China and Lesotho) totalled 121.2 million current USD.
